About the festival
Menorca Groove is a festival of dance music and Black rhythms held on the terrace of Es Claustre, in the centre of Maó. Its ninth edition, in September 2025, is the most recent on record. The organisers hoped to hold the tenth in 2026 as an anniversary edition, but as of 14 October 2026 no edition has been announced for 2026 or for 2027.
A small terrace festival with artists from beyond the island
The Es Claustre terrace, right in the centre of Maó, is its usual stage. Its programme has mixed electronic music with rhythms rooted in Black music, and has always combined artists from the island with international guests: acts such as The Wailers have played its stage. In 2025 the organisers themselves stressed that local artists have always had their place on the line-up.
The last known edition: 2025
The ninth edition was held on Saturday 20 September 2025, a marathon day running from midday until three in the morning, with free entry. It was a scaled-down edition, more focused on electronic music and DJ sets, with break beats, afrobeat and Latin music:
- DJ Toribio, a Dominican-American producer based in Brooklyn, as headliner.
- Guille de Juan and Golfo de Guinea, from Barcelona.
- Sista Bea and Marco Herbet, from Menorca.
Its director, Maxwell Wright, admitted to Menorca.info at the time that organising the ninth edition had not been easy, and set out the goal of reaching the tenth anniversary in 2026 with a special edition.
What is known about 2026 and 2027
That anniversary has not been announced. September, the month in which the last edition took place, passed without dates or a line-up from Menorca Groove, and the festival's former website is no longer active. Nor has there been any statement declaring the project over: there is simply no edition scheduled.
Es Claustre did host festival activity in September 2026, but with a different event: Cranc Illa de Menorca, held on 19 September, a separate festival with its own line-up. For other events on the islands, the listings of festivals in the Balearic Islands include those with an upcoming edition.
