Electronic music festivals in Spain

Electronic music is spread across almost the entire map and isn't limited to summer: May and August are the months with the most festivals. Madrid and Barcelona are the provinces with the most events, followed by Murcia.

Very different profiles sit under the same label. There are festivals close to club culture and techno, such as Sónar in Barcelona or Lanna Festival in Gijón; broad line-ups where electronic music shares space with indie and pop, such as Primavera Sound, FIB or Low Festival; and events that mix it with urban music, such as Marisquiño in Vigo.

The calendar gets going early. In spring there are Warm Up, at La Fica in Murcia, L.E.V. Festival, in Gijón, and elrow Town, in Torrejón de Ardoz; in April, Sun & Snow Festival brings the genre to the Parking de Los Peñones in Sierra Nevada.

In August, coastal towns carry the most weight: Dantz Festival at the Anfiteatro de Miramón (Donostia), Festival Mediterránea at the Parc d'Ausiàs March in Gandía, its Roses edition, or ON/OFF Music Festival in Lloret de Mar. The Iberoexperia sessions, in Barcelona and Madrid, take over venues such as Apolo or the Teatro Eslava from April to September.

Autumn doesn't empty out. Festival Mutante, at Motorworld Mallorca, and Espacio Zity, at the Recinto Ferial de Valdespartera in Zaragoza, are usually held in October, and MIRA Digital Arts Festival brings electronic music to Fira de Barcelona's Montjuïc venue in November.
