DEMM26, the Día Europeo de la Música at Matadero Madrid, took place from 19 to 21 June 2026 with a programme combining open-air concerts, family sessions and a fairly accurate snapshot of current Spanish music.

What is DEMM26

The Matadero Madrid event has become one of the most recognisable ways to celebrate European Music Day in the capital. Its programme does not work like a typical mega-festival, but rather as a concentrated overview: artists from different scenes, contemporary acts and a selection that spans pop, electronic music, singer-songwriter material, contemporary flamenco and new musical languages.

Music programme

The main concerts took place in Plaza Matadero on 19 and 20 June. The announced names include Maria Arnal, Ángeles Toledano, Rita Payés y Lucía Fumero, Gazzi, pablopablo, Alizzz, Depresión Sonora and Akazie.

The line-up allows the edition to be read as a snapshot of the moment: from Maria Arnal's distinctive authorial voice to Alizzz's pop universe, by way of Depresión Sonora's personality, the jazz crossover of Rita Payés and Lucía Fumero, and the sets by Gazzi and Akazie.

Times and family activities

The Plaza Matadero concerts are scheduled for Friday 19 and Saturday 20 June, from 20:00 to 1:15. The family programme took place on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 at 12:00, with performances by La Fantástica Banda and Le Parody at the Central de Diseño.
