Pop festivals in Spain

Pop is the most widespread label on the calendar: it appears on its own at only a few festivals and almost always goes hand in hand with other styles. With indie it forms the most common combination, found at Primavera Sound, Arenal Sound and Vida Festival; with rock, at events such as Canet Rock; and with urban music, at Cruïlla, in the Parc del Fòrum, or at Starlite, in the Cantera de Nagüeles in Marbella.

Madrid and Barcelona lead the way, with the Mediterranean and Andalusian coasts, from Valencia and Alicante to Málaga and Sevilla, close behind. July is the month with the most events, ahead of June.

In Andalusia, pop blends with flamenco at festivals such as Noches de la Maestranza in Sevilla and Festival Puerta de Andalucía in La Carolina (Jaén), and with reggaeton on the Costa del Sol, where Marenostrum hosts shows in Fuengirola from April to September.

Outside the summer there is pop on a regular basis. Benidorm Fest usually takes place in February; Polar Sound in March, at the Baqueira Beret ski resort; and LOS40 Primavera Pop in April, in Madrid. October brings together events such as CaixaBank Madrid Live Experience and Sum Festival, in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, while Es Gremi Sounds arrives in Palma in November.

Nostalgia has its own niche: Love The 90s, with editions in Barcelona, Madrid, Sevilla and Valencia, Molan Los 90 in León and Eternos 90's in Segovia all combine pop and dance.
