Festival Strenes

Festival Strenes Girona 2026 has already taken place. Here you can check the dates, line-up and practical information from that edition.

Festival Strenes 2026 took place from 27 March to 3 May 2026 in Girona, during a season in which mid-sized festivals and city events gained ground over the one-size-fits-all mega-festival model.

The edition is now behind us, but it remains of interest because it left a clear message: a project that does not simply programme concerts, but turns novelty into an editorial statement. That identity is what allows a festival to keep its news value once the stages go dark.

Festival Strenes line-up

The line-up brought together Sílvia Pérez Cruz, Joan Dausà, Maria Arnal, Lax'n'Busto, Luz Casal, Quim Masferrer, La Ludwig Band, Els Amics de les Arts, La Fúmiga, Buhos and Ginestà. The mix placed the festival in the territory of premieres, singer-songwriter music, pop and the Catalan scene, with a programme that worked both through recognisable names and through its live atmosphere.

The value of the edition lay in how those names interacted with their setting. It was not just about piling up concerts: Girona brought scale, an audience and a particular way of experiencing the day. In an increasingly crowded calendar, that personality is what allows an event to stay in the memory after it has taken place.

An edition for understanding its scene

Festival Strenes fits within the network of festivals that fill out Spain's music map beyond the big headlines. Its importance lies not only in its size, but in how it connects artists, place and community over a few days.

The 2026 edition stands as a reference point for following the project's evolution: what audience it draws, what sounds it champions and how far it can grow without losing the character that gives it meaning.
