About the festival

Alma Occident Barcelona, the summer concert series that Concert Studio brought to the Poble Espanyol between 2023 and 2025, has not held an edition in 2026 and has not announced one for 2027. Its last season was in 2025. This summer the Poble Espanyol programmed a different series, BARTS Festival, and Alma's Barcelona website is no longer available.

What happened to the 2026 edition

In spring 2026 several listings still placed Alma in Montjuïc in June and July, but the line-up was never published. Ticketmaster, which sold its concerts, still has the festival's page showing the season from 24 June to 24 July 2025 as the latest reference, with no upcoming events. In summer 2026 the Poble Espanyol hosted concerts such as Antoñito Molina on 10 July as part of BARTS Festival, with no trace of the Alma brand.

The organisers have not announced a cancellation or a move, so it cannot be described as an official closure. What is clear is that there are no concerts, dates or tickets on sale under that name in Barcelona.

Three summers at the Poble Espanyol

Alma was born as the successor to the Festival Jardins de Pedralbes, which Concert Studio organised for a decade in the gardens of the Pedralbes palace. In 2023 it moved to the Poble Espanyol under the name Alma Festival Jardins de Pedralbes and held fifteen nights of concerts between 11 and 27 July, with 48,000 attendees according to the organisers.

In 2024 it grew to 22 concerts, eight of them sold out, and more than 67,000 attendees, with names such as Queens of the Stone Age. In 2025, now as Alma Occident, it programmed around twenty nights with artists such as Wilco, Residente, Alan Parsons, Alaska, The Cult and Madness, and closed with more than 70,000 tickets sold, according to the newspaper Ara.

The format was more that of a concert series than a festival: each concert had its own ticket and an evening start time, on the stage set up at the Montjuïc venue, with food and drink on offer around it. It worked for audiences who wanted to see a specific artist in an open-air setting.

Other Alma venues and what's on in Barcelona

The Alma brand has also had venues outside Catalonia, such as the one in Alicante, which you can check out on our Alma Occident Alicante page. For what's on in the city, see the calendar of festivals in Barcelona.
