About the festival
Gran Canaria Sum Festival 2027 will take place on Friday 1 and Saturday 2 October 2027. The official website is already announcing the eighth edition and tickets are on sale, but there are no confirmed artists or venue details yet. Anyone buying now is betting on the date and the festival, not on a line-up.
SUM Festival 2027: dates confirmed, line-up to come
The sumfestival.es homepage sums up the situation in two lines: 1 and 2 October 2027 and tickets “now on sale”. The festival thus keeps its slot on the first weekend of October, Friday to Saturday, as in 2026 (2 and 3 October) and 2025 (3 and 4 October).
Almost everything else is still missing. No artists have been announced, the website does not list prices for 2027 and the transport section simply says that more information will follow in the coming months. There are no set times or site map either.
Arucas, the home the festival wants to keep
SUM was born in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria and its first six editions were held at Infecar, the capital’s trade fair grounds. Building works at that site moved it to Arucas in 2026, and the organisers told Canarias7 at the time that their agreement with the town council was intended to be “long-term”.
Arucas Town Council and its tourism brand are still among the sponsors shown on the 2027 edition’s website. Even so, the festival has not yet confirmed which site will host the next edition, a detail that matters when planning transport and accommodation in the north of the island.
Buying before the line-up: what you should know
The official website directs buyers to entradas.com; ModoFestival may receive a commission if you buy through this link, at no extra cost to you. Selling early, with no names, is nothing new for SUM: according to Canarias7, the day after the 2025 edition it sold 2,000 tickets before announcing a single artist.
The conditions published for 2026 help explain the risk of buying so early. Tickets are not tied to a named holder and can be given away, but the festival does not accept refunds or exchanges except in cases announced by the organisers themselves. In 2026 it offered two: one for those who had bought before the venue was known and another after one of the announced artists was withdrawn. The specific conditions for 2027 should be checked during the purchase process.
Entry is restricted to over-18s: the festival attributes this to the Canary Islands’ regulations on public events, which do not allow it to reconcile its opening hours with the presence of minors.
What SUM is like: two stages and Spanish pop-rock
SUM works as a compact two-day festival with two stages, food and drink areas and rest zones. Its line-up ranges across mainstream pop, rock and Spanish indie, with the odd act outside that mould: in 2026, Ara Malikian shared a day with La Casa Azul, Dorian and Chambao.
The premium ticket at the last edition included queue-free entry, dedicated bars, a front area at both stages and exclusive toilets. At the bars and food trucks payment was by card or mobile, and there was a point for loading cash onto a card, with any remaining balance claimable afterwards.
How Sum Festival 2026 went in Arucas
The seventh edition took place on Friday 2 and Saturday 3 October 2026 at Arucas’s sports complex: the Tonono I football ground, the sports centre and its car parks, with two open-air stages and opening hours of 17:30 to 02:00 on both days, according to Canarias7. It was the first time the festival had left the capital, and the mayor, Juan Jesús Facundo, asked people to come by public transport because parking spaces were limited.
Friday was headlined by Walls, Nil Moliner and Ultraligera, with Miss Caffeina, Repion, Veintiuno, Kimera and Carlos Ares. Saturday was the turn of La La Love You, Ara Malikian and Siloé, alongside Dorian, Sexy Zebras, La Casa Azul, Samuraï, Chambao and Arco. Beret featured in the first Friday announcement, which we covered in our news story on the SUM line-up in Arucas, but did not perform: the organisers cancelled his appearance and opened a refund window until 15 July.
The move from Las Palmas was the big change that year, as we explained when reporting on SUM’s change of venue to Arucas. A year earlier, the 2025 edition was still held in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria.
