Festivals in Madrid

The festival calendar in Madrid is not concentrated in the height of summer. Most of those with a regular month are spread between May and June or between September and October, while July and August are left with very few events.

June brings together festivals such as Noches del Botánico, the Iberdrola Music Festival and the Festival Internacional de Guitarra de Madrid, which crosses flamenco, folk and classical. September and October bring the Festival Coca Cola Music Experience, at Iberdrola Music, and RADAR. Winter is not empty either: Inverfest runs from October to March across the Teatro Circo Price, La Riviera and the Movistar Arena.

By style, electronic music and techno make up one of the largest groups and also the hardest to pin down to a date. Brands such as Maudes Festival, Music On, Circoloco and Blackworks Weekend Festival are not tied to a specific month, while Iberoexperia Sessions Madrid runs from April to September in clubs and theatres such as Sala Villanos, Teatro Eslava and the Teatro Capitol Gran Vía.

Urban music and reggaeton have their own circuit: Puro Latino Madrid usually falls in June, Brava in September and the Reggaeton Millennial Fest Madrid in October, at the Autocine Madrid - The Lenovo Garaje. In spring they are joined by LOS40 Primavera Pop, in April, and Canarias Tiene el Flow, in May.

Rock and indie are spread across the whole calendar. Blockparty brings rock and punk to June, the Festival Indyspensable Villaverde takes place in September at the Auditorio Municipal El Espinillo and the Festival Ultreia moves between February and March, alongside other winter events such as Don't Let Daddy Know, focused on electronic and dance music.
