About the festival

Indyspensable closed its 21st edition on 26 September 2026 and, for now, there are no dates or line-up for 2027. What is known is the format the Junta Municipal de Villaverde has kept in recent editions: two nights of independent music, free until capacity is reached, at the Auditorio Municipal El Espinillo.

What we know about Indyspensable 2027

Nothing official yet. Neither Madrid City Council nor the district council, which organises the festival, has published dates, artists or a venue for the next edition.

In recent editions, the line-up has been announced in September, just a few weeks before the concerts. In 2026, the council also kept the headliner secret until the programme was finalised, and then revealed Dorian.

The last four editions have fallen on the last weekend of September, from Friday to Saturday: 29 and 30 September in 2023, 27 and 28 in 2024, 26 and 27 in 2025 and 25 and 26 in 2026. It is a habit, not an announcement.

A free neighbourhood festival with more than twenty years of history

Indyspensable was born in 2004 and has only been interrupted in 2020 and 2021 because of the pandemic. Its formula has barely changed: free entry, an open-air municipal auditorium and a line-up that mixes acts with national careers and emerging bands from the alternative scene. Love of Lesbian, Sidonie, Niña Polaca and La Casa Azul have all played its stage.

There is no need to buy a ticket or book, but access depends on capacity. In practice, that makes your arrival time the key decision: with a big-draw act closing the night, the venue can fill up before they take the stage.

The concerts start in the early evening. In 2025 and 2026 they began at 19:30, with four or five performances per night, and in 2025 the programme ran until 01:30.

El Espinillo, the usual venue in Villaverde

The festival takes place at the Auditorio Municipal El Espinillo, at calle Tertulia, 5, in the Los Rosales neighbourhood (Villaverde, Madrid). The nearest metro station is Ciudad de los Ángeles (Line 3), and EMT bus routes 22, 59, 79, 85 and 123 serve the area. The venue has a reserved area for people with reduced mobility.

The venue for 2027 is not confirmed, but El Espinillo has hosted all the recent editions.

How Indyspensable 2026 went

The 21st edition was held on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September 2026, with concerts from 19:30 and free entry until capacity was reached. Friday centred on Dorian, one of the leading names in independent electronic pop of the last two decades, joined by three guitar bands from the recent alternative scene: Shego, Camellos and Cora Yako.

Saturday focused on a younger generation: Jimena Amarillo, who was presenting the more electronic turn in her pop, Pipiolas and three groups spanning pop, punk and alternative rock, Tronkas!, La 126 and Nenazas. The contrast between the two nights sums up how the festival works: a recognisable name as the draw and a second night for younger acts. Details of that programme are in our news story on the Indyspensable 2026 line-up with Dorian, Shego and Camellos.

Line-ups from previous editions

In 2025, the 20th edition (26 and 27 September) brought together Vicente Calderón, Error 97, Karavana and Cariño on the Friday and Cometa, Belako, Tulsa and Carlangas on the Saturday. A year earlier, in 2024, the line-up centred on Amatria, La Habitación Roja, Rufus T. Firefly and Anni B Sweet, as we reported in our Indyspensable 2024 preview. And in 2023, Hinds, Aiko, Monteperdido, Apartamentos Acapulco, Mujeres, Neuman and Mute played El Espinillo, with performances for a family audience at the start of each day, as we covered in our news story on that edition.

None of those artists has been announced for 2027.
