Maria Arnal
Singer and songwriter born in Badalona in 1987. Her work draws on the traditional music of the Iberian Peninsula, taking Alan Lomax’s field recordings as its starting point, and blends it with pop and electronic music. With the musician Marcel Bagés she released ‘45 cerebros y 1 corazón’ (2017), which explored memory through the mass graves of the Civil War, and ‘Clamor’ (2021), which has a more experimental sound. She composed the soundtrack for ‘Polvo serán’, which won the Gaudí Award for Best Original Score, and the song for ‘La virgen roja’, which was nominated for a Goya.
Maria Arnal appears in the line-ups of 8 festivals in ModoFestival's calendar. Next date: SanSan Festival (Benicassim), 25–27 Mar 2027.
