Festival ContraCultura

ContraCultura is the live music marquee at the Feria Real in Puente Genil (Córdoba): six August nights of rock, rap, punk, metal, reggae and electronic music, free of charge, inside the fairground. In 2026 it was set up again from 14 to 19 August. For 2027, no line-up or dates have been announced yet.

ContraCultura 2027: waiting for the next Feria Real

The marquee is tied to the fair's calendar, so its dates depend on the 2027 Feria Real, which has not yet been scheduled. In the last two editions it fell in the same slot, from 14 to 19 August in both 2025 and 2026, and the line-up arrives at short notice: in 2026, the local press published it on 7 August, a week before opening.

What has not changed is access. The marquee's programme is free entry, with no tickets on sale.

An alternative marquee within the fair

ContraCultura is not a conventional festival with its own site and festival pass, but one more marquee at the Feria Real, run by the Asociación Contracultura. What sets it apart is what plays inside: it programmes live bands every night and presents itself as an alternative to the more commercial offering on the fairground, with rock, punk, metal or reggae bands that would struggle to find a slot in any other marquee.

Concerts usually start between ten o'clock and midnight, and the last set kicks off at three in the morning. On some days there is also afternoon activity. The fair is broadcast live on Puente Genil TV and ClicTV, although the appeal of the marquee lies in seeing it up close.

In 2026 it was also one of the nine marquees on the fairground, all of them with a purple point for the prevention of sexual violence, according to Córdoba BN.

How ContraCultura 2026 went

The 2026 edition began on Friday 14 August and ended on Wednesday 19. The line-up, published by Puente Genil Noticias, was as follows:

• Friday 14: Sekidelic (03:00).
• Saturday 15: 4 de Copas (19:00), Monicamolerr (23:00), La Berrea (00:00), Whatever! (01:30) and Niño Rojo (03:00).
• Sunday 16: Santo Drama (00:00), Dreadsistance (01:30) and Niño Rojo (03:00).
• Monday 17: Muerto en Vida (22:30), Kadikaze (23:30), The Brand New Ones (01:00) and Niño Rojo (03:00).
• Tuesday 18: Charanga Los Elegantes (18:30), Fuente Nueva (22:00), Back Noise (23:30), Imperio Reina (01:00) and Fiesta del Orgullo (03:00).
• Wednesday 19: Berra Berrita (00:00), Frac (01:00) and Kaxuxa Beats (03:00).

The line-up sums up how the marquee works: different bands every night, a brass band and an afternoon act as the exception, Niño Rojo closing three nights in a row and, on Tuesday, the final slot reserved for a Pride party.

Other music plans in Puente Genil

The fair is not the only date with live music in the town. On 25 and 26 September, Membrillo Fest Music brought together M-Clan, Kiko Veneno and Nacha Pop at the Caseta Municipal, and the Andalusia festival calendar lists the rest of the region's events.
