Festivals in Andalusia

Málaga is the province with the most festivals in Andalusia, with Torremolinos, Fuengirola, Marbella and the provincial capital as the most active municipalities. Granada and Sevilla follow close behind, and Cádiz, Almería, Jaén and Córdoba complete a map on which no province is left without an event.

Pop is the common denominator: it features at a good share of the festivals and crosses over with almost everything. With indie at Granada Sound or at Interestelar, at the CAAC in Sevilla; with flamenco at Noches de la Maestranza; with reggaeton at Marenostrum, in Fuengirola. Flamenco also has festivals of its own, such as Festival de Jerez, between February and March.

The Andalusian calendar is one of the longest: July and August have the most events, but there are festivals in almost every month. Winter has its own line-up, with Rockin’ Race Jamboree in Torremolinos in February and Sun & Snow Festival, which in April brings electronic music to the Parking de Los Peñones, in Sierra Nevada.

May marks the start of the main season, with oleoSÓNICA Jaén Music Fest at IFEJA and Oh, See! in Málaga. In summer, several festivals run for months: Starlite holds events between June and September at the Cantera de Nagüeles, as does Sophie Festival at Ogus Park. July also brings the Puro Latino circuit, with editions in Sevilla, Almería, Torremolinos and El Puerto de Santa María, and the electronic music of Dreambeach, in Vélez-Málaga.

September and October shift the focus to Granada, Sevilla and Córdoba. In September, Granada brings together the indie of Granada Sound and the rock of Zaidín Rock; in October the calendar moves to Sevilla, with Lolailand or Torre Rock Fest, and to Pozoblanco, home to Slow Music.
