About the festival

Festival de Cádiz - Música Española holds its 24th edition from 13 to 23 November 2026 across nine venues in Cádiz, with the Gran Teatro Falla as its main venue. It is organised by the Junta de Andalucía and has taken place every November since 2003, set between two dates linked to Manuel de Falla: his death, on 14 November 1946, and his birth, on 23 November 1876. This year marks 150 years since the latter, and the programme revolves around it.

There is no festival pass and no single site. The organisers put the edition at 35 concerts and 20 premieres; the listings on its website include 27 concerts with their own date, time and price, 13 of them free, and the full programme adds school performances and a composition course. Classical music dominates, but it shares the bill with Rodrigo Cuevas, María Rodés, the Ballet Flamenco de Andalucía, Pinocho Detective, two jazz quartets and an afternoon of experimental electronic music.

Falla, on his two dates: Palomar on the 14th and Perianes on the 23rd

On Saturday 14 at 20:00, 80 years after the composer's death, Cádiz-born cantaor David Palomar premieres ‘Réquiem a D. Manuel de Falla’ at the Gran Teatro Falla, with music by Juan Pablo Otero and the Orchestra and Choir of the University of Cádiz, conducted by Juan Manuel Pérez Madueño, according to Diario de Cádiz. It is the most expensive ticket of the festival, from €12 to €35.

The festival closes on Monday 23 at 20:00, the exact day of the anniversary, with Huelva-born pianist Javier Perianes and an all-Falla programme at the same theatre. Despite the date, it is one of the cheapest concerts at the Gran Teatro Falla: from €6 to €12.

Between the two, Falla appears in much of the programme: the recital with commentary by soprano Ruth Rosique and pianist Juan Carlos Garvayo on the connections between flamenco and operatic singing; the premiere of ‘Concertante’, by Jesús Torres, performed by Trío Arbós, commissioned by the festival and the Centro Nacional de Difusión Musical; the Orquesta Joven de Andalucía with ‘Constelación Falla’; and even the opening, in which O Sister! brings together the world of the composer and that of the European avant-garde with the jazz of the 1920s and 1930s. Diario de Cádiz sees this edition as somewhat more classical than recent ones, although without the major Andalusian orchestras, which are already touring with Andalucía Sinfónica.

The first weekend is the busiest: Saturday 14 brings together six events, from 12:00 to 22:00. The free concerts are concentrated around midday and in the afternoon; the nine that start at 20:00 or later are ticketed, and six of them are at the Gran Teatro Falla.

Tickets, discounts and free concerts

Tickets for the concerts at the Gran Teatro Falla and the Teatro del Títere La Tía Norica are sold on Bacantix, by phone on 910 966 864 (every day, 10:00 to 19:00) and at the box offices of both theatres; online and phone sales carry booking fees. The two concerts at the Edificio Constitución 1812, at €10, are sold on SacaTuEntrada.

At both theatres there are three discounts: 25% for unemployed people, older people and students; 15% for groups of ten or more and non-music associations; and another 15% for purchases made up to 14 November, which brings La Tía Norica tickets down to €8.50. For Palomar's Réquiem, Carné Joven holders pay €6 in the gods. Bacantix advertises some Gran Teatro Falla concerts from €6 or €8, so it is worth checking the seating area before paying.

No exchanges or refunds are accepted, and children need a ticket from the age of three. In the boxes and the gods of the Gran Teatro Falla, seats are unnumbered and taken on a first-come, first-served basis. The theatre box office opens Tuesday to Friday, 10:30 to 13:30 and 17:30 to 20:00, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Mondays with a performance, one hour beforehand.

The 13 free concerts are open admission until capacity is reached, with no booking, so it is wise to arrive early.

Nine venues in the centre of Cádiz

The Gran Teatro Falla, on plaza de Fragela, hosts six concerts, including the two on the Falla dates. The Teatro del Títere La Tía Norica, at calle San Miguel, 15, is the venue with the most events: seven, almost all at €10. The University of Cádiz's Edificio Constitución 1812, the former Aulario La Bomba, at paseo de Carlos III, 3, hosts two night-time concerts as part of the collaboration with the university's Campus Rock.

The free concerts are spread across the Casa de Iberoamérica, the Baluarte de la Candelaria, the Museo de Cádiz, the Palacio Provincial de la Diputación, the Centro Cultural Fundación Unicaja and the Real Conservatorio Profesional de Música Manuel de Falla. Visitors from elsewhere on those dates can also take in Monkey Week, from 19 to 21 November in El Puerto de Santa María, and the rest of the events in the province are listed under festivals in Cádiz.
