Jazz festivals in Spain

Barcelona is the province with the most jazz festivals, with events such as Les Nits de Barcelona, between June and July, or the Festival Jazz in Terrassa, in March. Beyond Barcelona, the genre is spread across one-off events over much of the map: Jazzaldia San Sebastián in Donostia, Jazz en la Costa in Almuñécar (Granada) or Murcia Jazz Festival.

July is the month with the most dates, although March and the autumn also have their share. Folk is the genre that most often accompanies jazz.

Crossover with other genres shapes much of the list. Alongside folk, it appears at Festival Ribeira Sacra, in Lugo, at Hola Nola Lab-Festival, in Santiago de Compostela, and at Black Music Festival, in Girona, which is usually held between February and March. Alongside world music, it features at WOMAD (Cáceres) and at Up&Down Festival Tenerife, in Puerto de la Cruz, both in May.

In Barcelona, Share Fest Bcn and Can Reon Festival join Les Nits de Barcelona in June, so that month the province offers several options. Other festivals include jazz within broad line-ups. The Festival Internacional de Música de Cambrils mixes jazz, rock, pop, classical, blues and gospel between July and August, and BBK Legends pairs it with rock in Bilbao. For the autumn, Jazz Palencia Festival is usually held between October and November.
