About the festival
Hola Nola Lab-Festival wrapped up its fifth edition in Santiago de Compostela on 19 September 2026 and has not yet announced when it will return. For 2027 there are no dates, no line-up and no tickets on sale. What these five editions have made clear, though, is what kind of festival it is: concerts in venues around the city, with New Orleans music as the starting point and Galician artists crossing paths with it.
What we know about Hola Nola 2027
For now, nothing official. The festival has not published dates, venues or first names for the next edition, and the pass sold on Ataquilla was for the 2026 concerts.
The last two editions took place in the second half of September: from 16 to 21 September 2025 and from 16 to 19 September 2026. It is a pattern, not an announcement, but it gives an idea of where in the calendar the festival usually appears.
A club festival with a New Orleans accent
Nola is the usual abbreviation for New Orleans, and the line-ups make no secret of it: in 2025 Joe Lastie's New Orleans Sound came through Santiago, and in 2026 the programme included a band named after the festival, the Hola Nola Band. Alongside that strand sit roots music, singer-songwriters and Galician acts, so the festival works more as a listening journey than as a string of big names.
That format shapes the experience. There is no single site or simultaneous stages, but rather one or two performances a night spread across venues in the city. In 2026 these were Sala Riquela, Borriquita de Belém and Sala Capitol; in 2025 Fuco Lois was also used. Besides the concerts, the programme adds side activities: in 2026 there were films, talks, workshops, lunches and a Street Studio, which were not included in the concert pass.
Reference prices from previous editions
Prices for 2027 are not known. As a guide, in 2025 the concerts at Riquela cost €20 and several sessions at other venues were free, according to La Ganzúa's listings. In 2026 sales were organised around a pass for the six main concerts, and two of them, those at Borriquita de Belém, were only accessible with that pass.
That detail is useful for the next edition: at Hola Nola not every session has had individual tickets, so it is worth checking carefully what each option includes when sales open.
How Hola Nola Lab-Festival 2026 went
The fifth edition was packed into four days. Madisen Ward opened it on Wednesday 16 September at Riquela, at 21:00, and Caamaño Ameixeiras closed it on Saturday 19 at Sala Capitol. This was the concert programme:
- Wednesday 16: Madisen Ward, Sala Riquela.
- Thursday 17: Louis Ford, Sala Riquela; Al Blanco & El Peli, Borriquita de Belém.
- Friday 18: Hola Nola Band, Sala Riquela; Sinouj, Borriquita de Belém.
- Saturday 19: Caamaño Ameixeiras, Sala Capitol.
The finale with Caamaño Ameixeiras, a Galician traditional music duo, sums up the festival's idea well: starting with North American roots song and ending with local tradition. At ModoFestival we covered the breakdown by venue and the pass conditions in the Hola Nola 2026 programme.
The previous edition, in 2025, was longer, with six days of concerts between 16 and 21 September. It featured Noel McKay and Julián Maeso, The Get, Leo Middea, Boma Bango, Aurora Nealand's Inquiry Quintet and 7xMedio, and ended with Caravana Nola, a musical journey through southern Galicia and northern Portugal.
More music in Galicia while we wait for 2027
Until Hola Nola announces dates, the guide to festivals in Galicia gathers the region's other events, and the September festival calendar brings together what's on in the month when the festival has been held for its last two editions.
