About the festival
Jazzaldia 2027 will take place in San Sebastián from Wednesday 21 to Sunday 25 July 2027. It will be the 62nd edition of Donostia's jazz festival, which has so far only set its dates: the line-up, specific stages and tickets have yet to be announced.
The dates arrive with the 2026 figures still fresh: 179,483 attendees, 77 concerts and 15 sold-out performances. With numbers like those, anyone hoping to see the big names in the auditoriums in 2027 has good reason to block out the week now and keep an eye out for the day sales open.
Jazzaldia 2027 dates: 21 to 25 July
The organisers announced the dates of the 62nd edition as the previous one closed: 21 to 25 July 2027, Wednesday to Sunday. This repeats the format of five consecutive days used in 2026, which ran from 22 to 26 July.
This means travel and accommodation can be arranged with nine months' notice. What is not yet known is how the concerts will be spread across those five days, so booking just one specific night with a particular artist in mind is still a shot in the dark.
At ModoFestival we covered the announcement in our news story on Jazzaldia closing with almost 180,000 attendees and its dates for 2027.
Jazzaldia 2027 line-up: no names yet
As of 14 October 2026, no artists have been confirmed for Jazzaldia 2027. The official website still shows the 2026 programme as past activity and has not published any previews of the next edition.
The 2026 edition is useful for understanding the festival's programming style, not as a preview of names: that year the festival combined historic jazz figures such as Pat Metheny and Charles Tolliver, younger voices such as Samara Joy, Basque bands and acts closer to blues or pop, such as Danielle Nicole and LP, on the free stage.
Tickets and passes for 2027
Sales for Jazzaldia 2027 are not open as of 14 October 2026. No passes, prices or on-sale date for tickets have been published.
The festival sells its paid concerts through its own official website, in the concerts and tickets section, with tickets for individual concerts and, in 2026, passes as well. That year several of the most sought-after shows moved to a waiting list or sold out before the festival began: the window to decide narrows as soon as the programme is unveiled.
How Jazzaldia works: paid auditoriums and free stages
Jazzaldia does not have a single site. The festival is spread across the city and combines two ways of experiencing it, which make a big difference to your budget and plans for the day:
- Paid concerts with their own tickets at venues such as the Kursaal, the Plaza de la Trinidad, the Teatro Victoria Eugenia, the cloister of the Museo San Telmo or Chillida Leku, in Hernani.
- Free stages such as the Keler Gunea, next to Zurriola beach, as well as other open events around the city.
This mix explains why total attendance far exceeds tickets sold: in 2026 there were 16,272 tickets sold compared with almost 180,000 attendees. You can arrive in Donostia with a ticket for just one concert and fill the rest of the day with free live music. The venues mentioned are those from 2026: the 2027 stages are yet to be confirmed.
How Jazzaldia 2026 went
The 61st edition took place from 22 to 26 July 2026 and, according to the official figures, brought together 179,483 attendees at 77 concerts across twelve stages. The 16,272 tickets sold were bought from 37 countries, with Spain, France, the United Kingdom, the United States and Germany as the main countries of origin.
Diana Krall, Pat Metheny, Marcus Miller and Samara Joy headlined an edition with 15 sold-out concerts, including three of the four at the Kursaal, all five morning shows in the San Telmo cloister and both at Chillida Leku. Also appearing at the festival were Nils Petter Molvær, Louis Sclavis, Cécile McLorin Salvant, Charles Tolliver, David Murray and Joe Lovano, the last two of whom received awards from the festival that year.
At the Keler Gunea, the free stage at Zurriola, LP and Danielle Nicole performed alongside Basque bands such as ETS, Kokoshca, Nøgen and HOFE. The programme also included tributes to John Coltrane and Miles Davis and four Txikijazz concerts, the strand aimed at children.
All these names, stages and sales figures relate to 2026. Ahead of the 2026 edition we published a guide to that year's tickets, free concerts and programme, which is useful for getting an idea of how a Jazzaldia week is organised.
