The festival experience
Rock in Rian is enjoyed as a coastal town festival: concerts, a summer atmosphere, local food and a crowd that mixes locals, visitors from the surrounding area and regular followers of the Galician scene. Its location in Rianxo also makes it a chance for a getaway to the Rías Baixas.
Accommodation and getting there
Rianxo is connected by road to Santiago, A Coruña and Pontevedra. Tourist demand rises in August, so it is worth booking well in advance if you want to stay near the venue.
Comparing accommodation in Rianxo and the surrounding area is advisable so you do not have to rely on long journeys after the concerts.
Tips for the coming-of-age edition
The 18th edition may hold special significance for regular festival-goers, so it is best not to leave it until the last minute if you want to secure tickets and accommodation. Rianxo in August combines the festival, tourism and coastal life, putting understandable pressure on hotel rooms and apartments.
It is also a good idea to check whether the organisers announce daytime activities, extended hours or additional services around Parque de Galiza.
