Azkena Rock Festival

Azkena Rock Festival 2027 celebrates its 25th edition on 17, 18 and 19 June at Mendizabala, Vitoria-Gasteiz. The organisers have already revealed a line-up of around 60 artists headed by Patti Smith, Bad Religion, Slash with Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators, Wilco and Marilyn Manson. The edition has been announced with dates, venue and festival passes on sale; what is still missing is the day-by-day line-up and the stage times.

Dates, venue and format of the 25th anniversary

The festival will take place over three consecutive days, from Thursday 17 to Saturday 19 June 2027. The main site is once again Mendizabala, the Vitoria venue that has given Azkena its identity for much of its history. The edition marks twenty-five festivals, not a tour of separate concerts across several cities. Anyone buying a festival pass should check that it covers all three dates, while the value of a day ticket will depend on knowing which artists play each day.

The organisers have announced five stages within the programme: God, Respect, Love, Trashville Allstars & Friends and the new Strawhouse. This variety allows large-scale concerts to alternate with roots or garage acts, but there is no clash schedule yet. An artist's date should not be inferred from their position on the poster.

Full line-up: from Patti Smith and Bad Religion to Wilco

Patti Smith Quartet, Bad Religion and Slash ft. Myles Kennedy & The Conspirators appear in the official announcement as their only dates in Spain in 2027. Alongside them are Marilyn Manson and Wilco, two names that broaden the palette from industrial rock to North American roots songwriting. The most prominent group of acts also includes Beth Hart, Billy Talent, Rival Sons, The Waterboys, John Garcia, Dave Alvin & The Guilty Ones and Billy Bragg.

The programme is not limited to the headliners. Punk, hard rock and guitar-driven sounds sit alongside country, blues and Americana acts such as Old 97’s, American Aquarium and 16 Horsepower. From the Spanish scene, highlights include Cala Vento, Gran Cañón, Joana Serrat, Tulsa, BARRRK and Marte Lasarte. Bands from Euskal Herria also bring a local connection that does not disappear in an anniversary of international scale. The official list brings together all the names announced.

Strawhouse and Trashville: two different ways to experience Azkena

The main new feature for 2027 is Strawhouse, a more intimate space dedicated to folk, country and blues. Nick Lowe, Dave Hause, Lilly Hiatt, Joana Serrat, Tulsa, Hayseed Dixie and other roots artists have been announced. It could be the most interesting area for those who enjoy discovering concerts away from the main stage and want to combine electric intensity with acoustic performances.

Trashville Allstars & Friends keeps the festival's rawest side alive. Its programme brings back Los Straitjackets, Bob Log III, The Cyborgs and other bands linked to that world, along with first-timers such as Demented Are Go and Wild Billy Childish & CTMF. Although both spaces appear on the same line-up, they offer different experiences: Strawhouse focuses on acoustic intimacy, while Trashville retains garage and the wildest rock.

Tickets, buses and what to check

The official ticket sale for Azkena Rock Festival 2027 offers general festival passes and specific options for attendees of previous editions, under-24s and groups. The organisers also state that entry is free for under-14s, subject to completing the relevant form. Promotional prices may change in tiers; check the final amount, the conditions and the year stated before paying.

Azkena plans to keep running bus services from nearby cities. Final routes, departure points and times should be checked as the event approaches; a city included in the general list does not yet mean a reserved seat. The main outstanding decision for anyone travelling to see a particular artist is the day-by-day line-up. Until it is published, the festival pass covers all three days, while a day ticket means waiting in order to make an informed choice.
