In short
- Festivern will not hold its 2026 edition in Tavernes de la Valldigna: the organisers have confirmed this to Levante-EMV without explaining why or proposing another venue.
- No line-up or refund terms have been published: the festival never announced its programme and has not issued a statement on its social media either.
- It is the second year-end in a row without Festivern: in December 2025 rain flooded the site and the campsite, forcing a last-minute cancellation.
- New Year's Eve is left without a festival, for now: at the end of October, no festival in Spain had dates and tickets on sale for the night of 31 December.
Festivern will not be seeing out the year in Tavernes de la Valldigna this time. The organisers have confirmed to Levante-EMV that they are cancelling the 2026 edition, without saying why and with no plans, for now, to move it to another town. It is the second December in a row without the La Safor festival that every year-end brought together fans of Valencian-language music: last year's edition was scuppered by rain just hours before it was due to start.
What we know about the cancellation of Festivern 2026
Confirmation came on Friday 6 November, after weeks of rumours among fans over the absence of a line-up. The festival usually announces its programme between mid- and late October, and this year it has not done so. According to Levante-EMV, the organisers have not explained the reasons for the cancellation, nor is there any plan to hold it at another venue.
Tickets and a statement: what is missing
The festival has not published any statement on its official channels: the latest post on its Instagram account dates from January, when the postponed Festivernet took place, and its website is not loading at the moment. With no line-up announced, the cancellation leaves no specific concerts up in the air. Levante-EMV makes no mention of tickets on sale for this edition, and the organisers have not set out refund terms for anyone who may have bought anything in advance.
Two year-ends without Festivern
In December 2025 the festival had to be called off at the last minute. The rain left the concert site and the campsite flooded, and the organisers cancelled the edition after a meeting of Tavernes' CECOPAL, with tickets refunded automatically, as we reported in our story on the rain that forced Festivern to cancel. Festivernet, the family event with La Fúmiga, was postponed to 18 January 2026.
It was not the first time the festival had gone without an edition: it was not held in 2020 or 2021 either, because of Covid. Founded in 2004, it has twenty editions to its name, and since 2011 it has been based in Tavernes de la Valldigna after stints in Pedreguer, Alcoi and Gandia, with three days of concerts at the end of December and camping.

The cancellation comes in a year of farewells for that scene. La Gossa Sorda ended their farewell tour in their home town of Pego with “L'última Aquelarre”, and La Fúmiga, who were due to play at Festivernet, are also bowing out.
New Year's Eve 2026, without a festival for now
Without Festivern, the end of the year loses its big festival event in the Valencian Community. And the picture is no better in the rest of Spain: in our guide to festivals in December 2026, at the end of October no festival had dates and tickets on sale for the night of the 31st. The month is concentrated around the early-December long weekend, with Purple Weekend and Play4Life, and on Christmas series such as Santaspascuas in Pamplona, which do not programme anything that night.
