Punk festivals in Spain

Punk rarely travels alone: practically every festival that books it shares the bill with rock. The map is widely spread, with no single province dominating the line-up of events, and ranges from Viña Rock, in Villarrobledo between April and May, to Iruña Rock in Pamplona, The Juergas Fest in Almería or FiestoRon in Arucas (Las Palmas).

August is the month with the most events, but the calendar stretches into December with Purple Weekend, at Espacio Vías in León.

Galicia offers several stops: Festival Revenidas Vilaxoán in September, Rock in Rio Tea in Ponteareas, Riot GZ Fest in Lugo, which is usually held in May, and Trece Roeis Fest in Pantón.

In Castile and León, punk is spread across towns such as Aguilar de Campoo, with Galleta Rock Fest in July, Béjar, with AbejaRock between July and August, and Toro, where Vintoro mixes it with metal in June. In the Valencian Community, Agres and Villena host Festival Poma Rock and Aúpa Lumbreiras!! in August, while Gazpatxo Rock takes place in February in Ayora.

Catalonia adds Cabro Rock in Vic, in June; Drums of War Festival, in August; and PintorRock in Reus, in October. In Madrid, Blockparty is usually held in June, and Rio Babel, in Rivas Vaciamadrid, blends punk and metal in July.
