In short

  1. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart head the first Facela Fest 2027 line-up announcement, alongside Dharmacide, Dion Lunadon, JADE4 and Grumpys, a guitar-driven start spanning indie pop, shoegaze and noise.
  2. The festival grows to five days, from 5 to 9 May, one more than at the tenth edition, and opens Sala Facela as a new venue in Lugo.
  3. The five-day pass costs €40, or €25 for under-25s, the same price as the four-day pass in 2026, and is on sale through Ingresse.
  4. It is not yet known which day each band plays or at which venue, so anyone who only wants to go to one particular gig will have to wait for the next announcements.

A New York band that split up in 2019 and returned to the stage in 2025 opens the Facela Fest 2027 line-up. The Pains of Being Pure at Heart are the first name for the eleventh edition of the Lugo festival, which will take place from Wednesday 5 to Sunday 9 May, with one more day than this year and passes already on sale for €40.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart and four more names: the first Facela Fest 2027 line-up

The organisers have confirmed five bands, as reported on 30 October by El Progreso and Aquí Lugo: The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Dharmacide, Dion Lunadon, JADE4 and Grumpys. All five share distorted guitars, from melodic indie pop to noise.

The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, Kip Berman's project, were one of the names of late-2000s indie pop and noise pop. Their self-titled debut came out in 2009 and was followed by Belong (2011), produced by Flood and mixed by Alan Moulder, Days of Abandon (2014) and The Echo of Pleasure (2017). Berman disbanded the group in 2019; the comeback was announced in August 2024 and in 2025 they had already toured Spain and Portugal.

The rest of the announcement ranges from shoegaze to garage. Dharmacide, from Madrid, blend shoegaze, dream pop and post-punk and have played Primavera Sound, BBK Live and Tomavistas, according to El Progreso. Grumpys, also from Madrid, move from alternative rock to shoegaze and dream pop on Serena, a five-track release. Dion Lunadon, a New Zealander based in New York, founder of The D4 and former bassist of A Place to Bury Strangers, brings the rawest side: garage, punk and noise.

The local contingent is JADE4, a trio made up of Nuria and Lucía, from Lugo, and Uzal, from Ordes. They are returning to the festival with a new record under their arm: Cicatrices, their first album, produced by Carlos Hernández, comes out on 27 November on the Galician label Rural, according to the two Lugo outlets.

Five days in May and a new venue: what changes compared with 2026

The tenth edition took place from 6 to 9 May 2026, four days spread across Parque da Milagrosa, Clavicémbalo and Facela Bar, with Temples and Triángulo de Amor Bizarro on the bill. In 2027 the festival extends to five days, starting on a Wednesday, 5 May, and finishing on Sunday 9.

The other new feature is Sala Facela, a new space that joins the festival's venues and which the organisers also want to use to programme gigs for the rest of the year. The concerts will be spread across several venues in the city, including Facela Bar and the new venue; the other 2027 venues have not been specified.

Facela Fest 2027 passes: €40, or €25 for under-25s

The general pass for the five days costs €40 and the under-25 pass €25. They are sold through Ingresse, the ticketing platform listed on the official website, and the sales page does not specify booking fees. For now only passes are on sale, with no day tickets.

Ingresse lists them as the second tier, so this is not the first price the pass has had, and El Progreso describes it as a promotional price. It has not been announced when or by how much it will rise. At €40, the pass works out at €8 per day, below any festival in the 2027 festival pass price ranking, where the cheapest per day came to €10. It is also the same as the four-day passes cost in 2026: €40 for the general pass and €25 for the youth pass, according to La Ganzúa.

Still to be confirmed: days, times and venues for each concert

The first announcement does not say which day each band plays or at which venue. The ticket sale lists 19:00 as the start time for each day, but there are no times for individual concerts. For anyone travelling to Lugo from elsewhere, that matters: with five days and several venues, it makes a difference whether The Pains of Being Pure at Heart play on the Wednesday or the Saturday.

Anyone after more guitars that spring has Degusta Fest in Armilla, with Peter Hook and The Horrors, on 4 and 5 June. Dates for the other festivals in those months are in the April to June 2027 festival calendar, and other events in the region in festivals in Galicia.
