In short
- The festival has a concert every day until Saturday the 7th, always at 20:00: today at the Espacio Turina, Tuesday at Casa Fabiola, Wednesday in Carmona and Thursday to Saturday at the Real Fábrica de Artillería.
- The three nights at the Fábrica de Artillería bring classical and flamenco guitar together in a single session: on Friday, Carles Trepat and Rafael Riqueni; on Saturday, Fabio Zanon and Emilio Caracafé.
- At the Fábrica, tickets cost €15 and only tiered seating is left: chairs with backrests are listed as sold out for all three nights on the ICAS ticketing site.
- The Fábrica de Artillería is about ten minutes' walk from San Bernardo station, which is served by the metro, the tram and Cercanías trains.
Six days of concerts in a row and a finale of three nights in a former factory. The 17th Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla enters its final week, from Monday 2 to Saturday 7 November, under the same motto it opened with on 5 October: “La guitarra soñada de Falla”, dedicated to the 150th anniversary of the composer's birth. For the close, the festival moves into the Real Fábrica de Artillería for three double sessions in which a classical guitar programme and a flamenco programme share the night. Here is the day-by-day schedule, with the published prices and how to get to the Fábrica.
Programme for the final week of the Festival de la Guitarra de Sevilla
- Monday 2, 20:00. Espacio Turina (Sala Silvio): Klara Tomljanovič, “Ecos contemporáneos de España”, and Álvaro Toscano, “Soñando el Romanticismo”.
- Tuesday 3, 20:00. Casa Fabiola: John Griffiths, “Miguel de Fuenllana: música en la Sevilla del XVI”.
- Wednesday 4, 20:00. Iglesia de Santa Ana (Carmona): recital by Nene Yokomura.
- Thursday 5, 20:00. Real Fábrica de Artillería: Guitalian Quartet, “Latin Landscape”, and Joni Jiménez, “Flamenco vivo”.
- Friday 6, 20:00. Real Fábrica de Artillería: Carles Trepat, “La guitarra íntima”, and Rafael Riqueni, “Memoria del sur”.
- Saturday 7, 20:00. Real Fábrica de Artillería: Fabio Zanon, “Horizontes de Falla”, and Emilio Caracafé, “Raíz flamenca”.
Monday and Tuesday span almost five centuries of repertoire. On Monday, in a shared session, Klara Tomljanovič plays contemporary music, including premieres by Alberto Carretero and José María Sánchez-Verdú, and Álvaro Toscano turns to Romanticism with Manuel Ponce's Sonata romántica and works by Tárrega. On Tuesday, vihuela player John Griffiths presents in concert his album dedicated to Miguel de Fuenllana and the music of 16th-century Sevilla, as part of the ICAS series Los Tesoros de la Guitarra Española. That same morning, at 12:00, he presents the CD at the Casa de Pilatos.
On Wednesday the festival makes its last trip out into the province: classical guitarist Nene Yokomura gives a recital at the Iglesia de Santa Ana in Carmona.
Three nights at the Fábrica de Artillería: classical at 20:00, flamenco afterwards
The three final sessions follow the same format, according to the schedule on the festival website: the classical guitar programme starts at 20:00 and flamenco takes over at around 20:50. Each ticket is valid for the whole session, so a single ticket lets you hear both of the traditions the festival is bringing together this year around Falla.
On Thursday the Guitalian Quartet (Guido Fichtner, Claudio Marcotulli, Stefano Palamidessi and Adriano Walter Rullo) opens, with a programme that begins with the overture to Rossini's Il viaggio a Reims and takes in Giovanni Sollima; then comes Joni Jiménez, who played the Cádiz Guitar Festival in October. Friday brings the most unusual detail of the week: Carles Trepat plays an 1892 Antonio de Torres guitar, with a repertoire that starts with Alonso Mudarra, and Rafael Riqueni, a guitarist from Sevilla, plays on home turf with “Memoria del sur”. On Saturday the closing slots go to Brazilian Fabio Zanon, with the programme most directly linked to the composer being celebrated, “Horizontes de Falla”, and Emilio Caracafé, with “Raíz flamenca”.

How to get to the Real Fábrica de Artillería
