About the festival
Drums of War Festival 2026 has dates set for its first edition: 27, 28 and 29 August at Atlantic Events, in Barcelona. The festival goes all in on extreme and underground metal, with an international line-up heavily focused on death, black, pagan and war metal, and a production designed for a specialist audience.
That alone sets it well apart within Spain's festival calendar. It is not trying to compete with the big mainstream festivals, but to occupy a far more specific niche: a purist event for fans of the heaviest metal. At a time when many line-ups look increasingly alike, that specialisation could become its main selling point.
Dates, venue and planned experience
The first edition has been announced for 27, 28 and 29 August 2026. The chosen venue is Atlantic Events, in Barcelona, an urban location that makes it easy to attend from the city itself and from other parts of the metropolitan area, as well as making a short break feasible for visitors from further afield.
The organisers have planned a three-day experience with two stages, artist meet-and-greet spaces and a VIP area. This approach makes it clear that it is not simply a string of concerts, but an event conceived for a very specific community, with real time for attendees to spend together.
Confirmed line-up for Drums of War Festival 2026
The information available so far brings together the following bands:
- Unleashed
- 1349
- Pestilence
- Impiety
- Acheron
- Kampfar
- In the Woods…
- Negative Plane
- Impaled Nazarene
- Vinterland
- Zemial
- Aeternus
- Deathhammer
- Hellbutcher
- Nargaroth
- Nocturnal
It is a line-up that is far from random and very deliberate. The presence of names such as Unleashed, 1349 and Pestilence already sets the tone, and the rest of the line-up reinforces an unmistakable direction towards the most extreme end of the underground. Anyone heading to this event knows pretty well what kind of atmosphere to expect.
Tickets and basic logistics
Tickets are on sale through the official channel linked to the organisers. I have not given a price here because the public information consulted does not provide a stable set of prices that could safely be reproduced. What does seem clear is that there will be multi-day ticket options and that the organisers are building the event with European ambitions.
Barcelona has practical advantages: international connections, a wide range of hotels and enough transport capacity to absorb visitors from elsewhere. For such a specialist festival, that urban element could be as important as the line-up itself.
What its first edition could bring
Drums of War may find its place precisely where others do not want to look: in an extreme scene that still has a loyal community and a need for events tailored to it. If the production lives up to the level of the line-up and the organisers maintain the underground identity they promise, its debut could prove far more significant than its initial size suggests.
