In short
- La Oreja de Van Gogh top an eleven-act first announcement in which the pop rock of Pignoise, Sidonie and Sidecars sits alongside indie circuit acts Veintiuno, Los Punsetes and Rata.
- Sonórica keeps its mid-July weekend: Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July 2027, at the Riomar football ground, the same venue as the last edition.
- Festival passes go on sale on Thursday 22 October at 12:00, with no price announced in advance: only those bought at sonorica.es are valid, and the line-up has not yet been split by day.
La Oreja de Van Gogh, once again with Amaia Montero on vocals, are the first big name for Sonórica 2027. The Castro Urdiales festival has published a first announcement of eleven artists for Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July and will open sales of festival passes on Thursday 22 October at 12:00, without yet having announced how much they will cost.
Sonórica 2027: La Oreja de Van Gogh, Sidonie and Pignoise in the first announcement
The official poster features La Oreja de Van Gogh, Pignoise, Sidonie, Sidecars, Veintiuno, Los Punsetes, Rata, Candela Gómez, Jaguayano, Coolnenas and Nuevos Vicios, with a note at the bottom: “Many more coming soon”. So this is not the full line-up, and the organisers have not said which artists play on which day either.
The name that will drive sales most is La Oreja de Van Gogh. The San Sebastián band brought back Amaia Montero, their original singer, in 2025, and their Tantas cosas que contar tour already has other festival dates for 2027: Interestelar in Seville, on 14 and 15 May, and the Teatro Romano de Mérida, on 5 June. For audiences in Cantabria and the Basque Country, Castro Urdiales, on the eastern Cantabrian coast and very close to Bilbao, is the nearest of the dates announced.
Below the headliner, the announcement has two quite distinct layers. One is made up of bands with many years on the road and well-known choruses: Pignoise, Álvaro Benito’s band, who took off with the theme tune to Los hombres de Paco; Sidecars, who reached number one in the sales chart with Ruido de fondo in 2020; and Sidonie, who were already on the 2024 line-up alongside Melendi, Amaral and Arde Bogotá. The other comes from the indie circuit: Toledo’s Veintiuno, Madrid’s Los Punsetes and Rata, the bass-and-drums duo from Murcia who released their debut album in April. Candela Gómez, Jaguayano, Coolnenas and Nuevos Vicios complete the list.

The formula resembles that of recent years: a headliner with very broad appeal surrounded by up-and-coming bands. In 2026, Hombres G and Lori Meyers anchored the Saturday, with Ultraligera, Sexy Zebras and Besmaya on the Friday. In 2027 the big draw is La Oreja de Van Gogh, while we wait to find out who completes the line-up.
16 and 17 July, at the Riomar football ground
Sonórica keeps its place in the calendar: the third weekend of July, as in 2026, when it was held on the 17th and 18th. Once again it will run over two days, Friday 16 and Saturday 17 July 2027. The official website places the festival at the Castro Urdiales football ground, the Estadio Municipal de Riomar, where the last edition was held. Stage times and the possible return of La Matinal, the free concerts in the town hall square held on the Saturday in 2026, have not yet been announced.
Anyone who remembers the festival under another name is not mistaken. It was born in 2021 as Sónica, in 2022 it brought C. Tangana and La M.O.D.A. to the Estadio Riomar, and in 2023 it had Leiva and Vetusta Morla at the top of the bill. Since the 2024 edition it has been called Sonórica. Its director, Ernesto Castañeda, told elDiario.es that the change came about because “there were other festivals with that name”.
Sonórica 2027 festival passes: on sale Thursday 22 at 12:00
Festival passes go on sale on Thursday 22 October at 12:00 on the official Sonórica website. The festival has not yet published the price, the types of pass or whether there will be day tickets. Its terms and conditions warn that only tickets bought at sonorica.es are valid, so it is wise to be wary of any resale. Tickets are exchanged for a wristband on arrival at the venue.
Under-18s can also attend, subject to conditions. Those aged 16 or 17 need an authorisation signed by their father, mother or legal guardian. Under-16s, in addition to that authorisation, must enter accompanied by their father, mother or legal guardian; no other adult will do.
Anyone buying on Thursday will do so with part of the line-up still to be announced and without knowing which day each act plays. For those going for La Oreja de Van Gogh who want both days, all that remains is to find out the price, which will be revealed when sales open. For those thinking of just one day, it may be worth waiting for the day-by-day split and for clarity on whether single-day tickets will be available. The Sonórica page will include prices and news about this edition, and the region’s other events are in the guide to festivals in Cantabria.
