In short
- 22 of the 24 concerts are still to come, running until Saturday 28 November: each project visits three towns in the province over a single weekend, from Thursday to Saturday.
- Miguel Zenón and Luis Perdomo, winners of the 2024 Grammy for best Latin jazz album, play on the 12th, 13th and 14th; Martha High, who shared the stage with James Brown for more than three decades, arrives from the 19th to the 21st.
- Tickets cost €3 in almost every town: €5 in Salteras and free with an invitation in Cantillana.
- Each town sells its own tickets, some online and others only at the box office or the cultural centre, and start times range from 20:00 to 21:00.
Seeing a Grammy winner for €3 is possible this November in twelve towns in Sevilla. The Festival Internacional de Jazz en la Provincia de Sevilla, organised by the Provincial Council and now in its 33rd edition, spreads 24 concerts from 5 to 28 November across theatres and cultural centres in the province, with Miguel Zenón, Martha High, Peter Bernstein and Zenet among its names.

From Zenón's boleros to Martha High's soul
The weekend of the 12th to the 14th carries the most international weight. Puerto Rican saxophonist Miguel Zenón and Venezuelan pianist Luis Perdomo, who have played together for more than twenty years, present ‘El arte del bolero vol. 2’, the album that won them the 2024 Grammy for best Latin jazz album: songs by Tito Rodríguez, Rubén Blades, Simón Díaz and Rafael Hernández. On the same nights, New York guitarists Peter Bernstein and Steve Cardenas, with Ben Allison on double bass and Matt Wilson on drums, devote their quartet to Thelonious Monk.

From the 19th to the 21st, it is soul's turn. Martha High, who shared the stage with James Brown for more than three decades and became his longest-serving vocalist, now sings with the Julián Maeso Organ Trío, led by the organist who has played with M Clan and Jorge Pardo. That same weekend, Ibizan vibraphonist Andrés Coll brings his island's folk music to contemporary jazz alongside Moroccan musician Majid Bekkas, a specialist in Gnawa music.
The closing weekend, from the 26th to the 28th, has an Andalusian and Madrid flavour: pianist Chico Pérez and flautist and saxophonist Sergio de Lope, two names in today's flamenco jazz, present ‘Ibérica’ with flamenco singer Aroa Fernández, and pianist Ester Quevedo debuts the songs from her second album, ‘Garabato’, with her quintet. The first weekend featured Zenet, with the acoustic repertoire of ‘Las manos y la voz’, and saxophonist Bernardo Parrilla, with his jazz and flamenco sextet ‘Puente Flamenco’.
