In short

  1. Symphony X and Battle Beast head the eight bands Z! Live announced on 27 October, alongside Nestor, Gama Bomb, Daeria, Vendetta FM and the two groups from the Z! Pro programme.
  2. The 2027 line-up now stands at 18 bands built around Edguy's farewell, but there is still no day-by-day split and the organisers are still holding back another of the headline names.
  3. The three-day pass costs €154 including fees and the festival says fewer than 500 remain at that price; there are no single-day tickets and the price of the next tier is not yet known.
  4. Anyone torn between Zamora and Vitoria will have to choose: Azkena takes place on the same dates, 17 to 19 June 2027.

Two big names in power and progressive metal to accompany Edguy's farewell. Z! Live 2027, the metal festival in Zamora, has added Symphony X and Battle Beast in a batch of eight bands that takes the line-up to 18 confirmations for 17, 18 and 19 June 2027 at IFEZA. The pass is still €154, although the organisers warn that the price will rise soon.

Symphony X, Battle Beast and the other six new bands at Z! Live 2027

Symphony X return to Zamora after playing the festival in 2023. The American band, with Michael Romeo on guitar and Russell Allen on vocals, blend progressive metal, power metal and neoclassical guitar, and will arrive with a new album in the works that Allen expects in 2027, according to Zamora News and Metal Hammer. Rock in Spain points out that they are ‘a band that doesn't come to Spain very often’, and on the bill they share the second tier with Stratovarius and Battle Beast, just below Edguy.

Finland's Battle Beast bring melodic heavy metal with big choruses and a new era: Marina La Torraca is now on vocals, and the announcement presents their visit as a chance for Spanish audiences to see that change live, following the warm reception of their concerts in Japan and Australia.

The rest of the batch ranges from the melodic to the heavier end:

  • Nestor, from Sweden, revived the band they had at school thirty years later and play melodic hard rock with eighties roots.
  • Gama Bomb, from Northern Ireland, play very fast thrash with classic heavy metal high notes and plenty of B-movie humour.
  • Daeria return to Zamora with their Spanish-language melodic metal, after the acoustic shows they gave in the city in 2024.
  • Vendetta FM, from Murcia, celebrate twenty years in 2027 with their mix of groove metal and hardcore.

In addition, the Z! Pro programme, through which the festival brings international groups little known in Spain to the main stage, adds France's Lecks Inc., who play industrial metal with electronics, and Almost Dead, from the San Francisco Bay Area, who sit somewhere between groove, thrash, hardcore and melodic death metal.

The full line-up so far: 18 bands and one piece still to come

With this batch, the artists page on the official website lists these 18 bands:

  • Edguy, with their reunion and farewell.
  • Stratovarius, with a greatest hits set.
  • Symphony X and Battle Beast.
  • Korpiklaani, Nestor and Primordial, who will play a special concert marking twenty years of To the Nameless Dead.
  • The Night Flight Orchestra, Conception, Virgin Steele, Gama Bomb and Trollfest.
  • Bloodhunter, Salamanca's K-ØS, Daeria and Vendetta FM.
  • From Z! Pro, Almost Dead and Lecks Inc.

The batch reinforces what the first announcement suggested, which we covered when Edguy's return was announced: a festival built on European power metal and melodic metal, with Edguy, Stratovarius, Symphony X and Battle Beast at the top. Gama Bomb, Vendetta FM and the two Z! Pro groups provide the rougher counterweight on a bill where, for now, melody rules.

What is still missing matters. The organisers say there are important announcements to come, and Metal Hammer specifies that these include another of the edition's headline names. There is also no day-by-day split of bands or stage times yet, so anyone going for a particular band does not yet know which day they will play. Everything published about this edition is on the Z! Live Rock page on ModoFestival.

Z! Live 2027 passes: €154 and fewer than 500 at that price

Official sales are on Weezevent, the platform the festival links to. Early this Wednesday, only three-day passes were on sale:

  • General pass (over-18s): €154, €140 plus €14 in booking fees.
  • Minors aged 13 to 17: €132 including fees, with the parental consent form for minors.
  • Children aged 12 or under: free, with their own pass and the ID document of their father, mother or legal guardian at the entrance.

The €132 presale has sold out. According to the organisers, there are fewer than 500 passes left at the current price before another increase, but they have not said how much the next tier will cost or when it will come in. Buying now makes sense for anyone already going for Edguy or for the line-up as a whole; those waiting for the day-by-day split or the missing name risk paying more.

Through the same sales platform you can book camping (€33 per person including fees), glamping, several three-night hotel packages in Zamora, Villaralbo and Salamanca, and the shuttle bus from Salamanca, at €66 for the three days or €27.50 per day.

Z! Live or Azkena: the weekend of 17 June means making a choice

17 June 2027 is a Thursday, and several major festivals overlap that weekend. For rock and metal fans, the clearest clash is with Azkena Rock Festival, which takes place in Vitoria on the same three days with Patti Smith, Bad Religion and Slash. They are different line-ups: Azkena leans towards punk, classic rock and Americana, and Z! Live towards power and melodic metal. The other clashes on those dates are in our round-up of the 2027 weekends when you will have to choose between festivals.
